Simulation Patients
Client situation
A research-based pharmaceutical company had sponsored an important annual meeting in the field of indications in rheumatology. A satellite symposium was to address the topic of non-adherence, which plays a vital role in the therapy of many rheumatic diseases.
Our solution
We suggested working with simulation patients at the event. Simulation patients are actors who are trained to portray patients with specific clinical pictures, including life history and personality. Simulation patients are used for training communicative and practical skills, also in medical studies.
In cooperation with a rheumatologist, co.patient developed scripts for several doctor-patient conversations, which were presented by simulation patients and a (real) rheumatologist during the satellite symposium.
Client benefits
The participating doctors praised our client for the unusual and exciting event format and emphasised the learning effect of simulated doctor-patient communication for their daily practice.
